The projects selected address various crucial learning issues such as improved writing skills and reading comprehension, science, physics, history and fine arts.  All projects exhibited a focus on creative ways to encourage achievement in all subjects.  Many of the projects found ways to creatively utilize technology to engage students.  Over half of the projects included a focus on developing altruism in students.

Golden Apple Foundation opened the application process this fall to Teachers throughout Winnebago and Boone County for projects that would enhance their classroom learning but would go unfunded under the regular school budget.  Since its inception, Golden Apple Foundation has provided funding to 200 educators for 164 projects totaling over $110,000.  Checks will be presented to teachers at the Golden Apple Foundation Board Meeting on Monday, December 12, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Rockford College in the Faculty Dining Room.  Recipients will also be recognized at the 16th Annual Golden Apple Banquet held on Friday, April 20, 2011 at the Radisson Hotel.
