I Know I Can

Golden Apple Foundation promotes the value of education and encourages the aspirations of young children who do not have the background, knowledge or exposure to realize that post-secondary education can be both affordable and attainable.  Over 100 Golden Apple volunteers – business leaders, undergraduate and graduate students, and others – visit third-grade classrooms to share the significance of setting goals and making college attendance an aspiration.

“I Know I Can”is a children’s book about forming goals, identifying ways to achieve them and about aspiring toward achieving a college education.  Volunteers wear their own college logos and spend one class period reading the book “I Know I Can” to students.  They share personal college experiences and show that the pathway to college includes things they can do now to achieve their goals.  All participating third graders are given their own copies of “I Know I Can”, to take home and share with friends and family and remind them to work toward their goals.
