Teachers and Hockey Fans Raise $4,600

On Friday, March 13, the Rockford IceHogs hosted a Golden Apple/Teacher Appreciation Night at the BMO Center.

Teachers and administrators were able to get one free ticket to the game and additional tickets at a discount; Golden Apple received a portion of paid tickets. Golden Apple also received proceeds from their Spin to Win game and 50/50 raffle. Additionally, Teacher Academy, past finalists and board members volunteered at a table to sell our Golden Apple Rockford CityTins at a discount to game goers. All in all, we raised a lot of money that will stay local to support our mission and support local educators through recognition, grant and scholarship programs! And the IceHogs beat the Chicago Wolves in an intense game!

Golden Apple finalists were invited to gather to be shown waving on the Jumbotron and all their names were listed on the screen as well. Recipients Shawna Sterling and Bryce Thomas got to play a Teacher Trivia game about student slang words. They did us proud, getting all four of the questions correct and won a t-shirt from Good Day Stateline’s Michelle Abraham.
