Golden Apple Foundation delivers 5,000+ apples and smiles

On Sept. 12, the City of Rockford declared a proclamation for “Apple for the Teacher Day.” Volunteers from the Teacher Academy and Associated Bank sorted and bagged/boxed more than 5,000 apples donated by Schnuck Markets on Sept. 11, and the next morning, more Teacher Academy members and community volunteers arrived to pick up apples to take to Winnebago and Boone county schools to thank area teachers for all they do. This event kicks off the selection process to determine the Class of 2025 Golden Apple Teachers from nominated PreK-5th grade teachers.
